Over the past few years, the unchecked proliferation of single-use plastics has ravaged the ecosystem, particularly oceans and marine life. This plastic menace needs to be addressed with increased awareness about its harms, improved recycling methods and adopting eco-friendly lifestyles

Vision
To cultivate the widespread adoption of proper waste collection and segration by properly cleaning the locality and keeping the sourrounding clean through commitment and unity of community coming together for a cause.
Mission
- Cover all open sewage systems in and around Bohra neighbourhoods.
- Install proper facilities for collection and disposal of waste in and around Bohra neighbourhoods.
- Increase individual participation in paper, plastic and e-waste recycling drives.
Current Progress
Turning the Tide Against Plastic Pollution
In order to mitigate the hazards of single-use plastic, the Dawoodi Bohra community initiated the campaign of ‘Turning the Tide Against Plastic Pollution’ in association with UN Champion of the Earth Advocate Afroz Shah. In October 2021, the volunteers from Burhani Foundation and Project Rise commemorated 101 weeks of the campaign
Recycling Drives
Regular drives for recycling paper and plastic waste are undertaken across community centres in India to recycle waste and promote a circular approach.
Bring Your Own Bag/Bottle’ Initiative
Various community centres across the world have adopted the ‘Bring Your Own Bag/Bottle’ [BYOB] policy in an effort to reduce the usage of single-use plastics at community events
